"Roderich...I really don't think this is a good idea," Hungary trembled in a meek voice as she stood atop a large snowy hill. Austria was beside her making sure that his feet were bound properly into his skies and checked hers for her as well before straightening up and adjusting his glasses.

"Is something wrong, Elizaveta? You were so keen earlier and skiing is quite enjoyable once you get the hang of it."

"I don't doubt you, darling, but well..." Hungary gulped and cast a glance at the hill before her, "The hill does seem rather l-large..." It was odd to see Hungary trembling in her boots at something like this but she had never skied before in her life.

"Just do as I told you and everything will be fine," her husband assured her as he prepped himself to push off. Hungary nodded weakly as Austria set off at a slow pace before her and she followed suit with her eyes squeezed tight. The wind whistled by her ear and she heard Austria call something to her about opening her eyes. When she did she found that she was actually doing quite well and a smile bloomed onto her face.

"Roderich! Look, I'm skiing! I'm skiing!" she called gleefully. But while Austria had taught her how to stop, Hungary it seemed had forgotten and was speeding towards Austria faster and faster. With a yelp from both, the two collided and went barreling down the hill thankfully avoiding any innocent skiers on the hill with them.

When the two returned bruised and battered to their mansion that night, Hungary decided that perhaps skiing wasn't the sport for her.

[Hungary wakes up and although look embarrassed, looks relieved that her lack of grace didn't hurt any of their citizens.]

dream ✿ 07

A battlefield can be seen with the sound of horses, the clash of swords and shouting occuring in the background. Countless men fall, wounded by fatal cuts and wounds, while others fight on for the glory of their country.

One figure on horseback was obviously more womanly-like; however, and her helmet had long since fallen off, her brown hair falling out of her pony tail and framing her face. Her green eyes are no longer filled with the calm, cheerful light she usually had as she took down body after body with her bow and arrow with quick precision. Perhaps on closer examination, one could tell that the look in her eyes was just a sheer determination to protect her people and her land. Or in this case, what little land she had left.

Just as she pierced the throat of another oncoming Turk, Hungary quickly turned, sensing another figure fast approaching. Her reflexes were slower than usual though and her body ached from the other wounds that were being inflicted upon her country allowing the oncoming person to hit with enough force to send her flying off her horse with a cry.

"Szar!" Hungary pressed a hand to the back of her head and struggled to lift herself out of the mud just as heavy boot came crashing down on her back sending her back into it. The pressure made her cry out in pain as the cuts on her back were still fresh and hadn't any time to heal since the last battle.

"Ah..." the deep voice was tinged with smugness and Hungary knew all too well who would dare to try such a gutsy move on her. "Why don't you just give up, Macaristan? I've conquered so much of your land already." He chuckled a bit as she struggled, continuing on in his native tongue. "The battlefield is no place for a woman after all --,"

At that Hungary let out a cry and she rolled herself out from under the other nations' boot, sending him staggering back in the process. Her face was covered with mud and she wiped it off, never taking her eyes off of him.

"I would rather die than give up my land so easily to your dirty blood," she spat back in her own Hungarian only causing the Ottoman to laugh, extending a hand after he recovered himself.

"Come now, we can end this easily without anymore hurt to either of us. Doesn't your body ache already? Think of your people, hmmm?" Hungary drew her sword in response, the gloom of the battlefield reflecting off of it. Yes, her body hurt. Bandages put over wounds would only be opened the next day when the person before her took pieces of her land away from her. She could feel every single life tied to her extinguished and it made her want to cry. She knew her people's will - she was Hungary after all, and she knew that simply handing over land that was rightfully theirs would put to shame the Maygar blood running through their veins.

Hungary couldn't tell what his eyes looked like behind his mask, but his playful, easy smile that had morphed into a smirk was all she needed to tell that he was getting fed up with her persistence. "If that's what you want, Macaristan, I will humor you. Show you your place, so to speak." He drew his own sword and Hungary's tensed up, forcing herself to focus on this and not the pain that was coming at her from all directions.

The space between the two was closed in a matter of seconds and both nations' muscles strained as the swords clanged against another each trying to find a mark.

The Ottoman's teeth gleemed white against his tanned skin, but Hungary only glowered back before both let go, throwing them both backwards. Not even another moment passed when the two took a running start at each other and both swords managed to come in contact with flesh this time. The man hissed as he clutched his arm, blood already beginning to seep out of the wound that her sword had managed to make. No flicker of pain crossed Hungary's face, and she didn't even bother to wipe away the blood from the cut that was just below her eye.

He barked out a laugh and seemed to recover from his pain as he straightened up, streaking blood across his white mask. "You will be mine."

"I will never be anybody's!" Hungary roared back as she lunged toward the Ottoman. Just at that moment however, a searing pain shot through her and she faltered, giving him an opprotunity to strike. His sword sliced her stomach, and had she not been a nation, she would have surely died. She let out a gasp and fell forward on her knees, her sword falling from her hand. He watched as she swayed, and pressed her hand to her stomach as a bright crimson seeped from the wound.

She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, and a few stray tears did escape as she gazed down, almost in wonder at the cut. The last thing she remembered seeing before she faded to black was the Ottoman kneeling beside her, a horrible smirk on his face as the battle behind them raged. And the last thing she remembered thinking was that she had failed her country.

[Hungary wakes up, clutching the place where the cut in her dream was made. It has long since become a scar, but the pain she feels from it seems fresh. It takes her a moment, but she rolls over and silently switches off the Dreamberry.]

[Filtered from Austria]

This is a bit embarassing, but I was wondering what someone would get for their husband? I mean, I suppose after being married to Roderich for so long, I would know exactly what to get him, but it everything I think about just isn't enough...Asking him simply won't do either, because he usually just says whatever I think would be a proper gift would be acceptable.

If anyone could offer any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated!

[This obviously takes place before Hungary was married to Austria and was still becoming used to the fact that she wasn't a boy, but a girl]

The wind whistled through Hungary's mussed hair as her horse galloped across the green expanse before her. A gleeful laugh escaped her mouth as the horse lept across a river, landing safely on the other side. Being on a horse made Hungary feel a unique sort of freedom that she normally never felt while just being on her own two feet.

She never had to worry about being a proper, prim lady and didn't have to bother with riding side saddle like the rest of the well bred ladies did. Her dress was tied up so that it didn't tangle her feet while they were firmly planted in the stirrups and Hungary couldn't help but giggle at the fact that if the nobility saw her, they would be simply appalled. None of that mattered though - not the politics, not the traditions - at least not now that she was out here with her horse. She still admittedly missed her trousers, but her leader had become more strict about the fact that it wasn't correct for a woman to wear pants, a fact that Hungary hadn't agreed with, and it was something that she voiced against but to no avail.

Her grip around the reigns tightened and her horse sped up ever so slightly at the slight change of it's master's mood before Hungary quickly relaxed realizing that it isn't something that she should dwell on. Taking in a deep breath, her green eyes cleared with a new found determination. She had proud Maygar blood running through her veins - no matter what they did, they would never be able to fully tame her. She would be sure of that.

[Hungary yawns and stretches, staring up at the ceiling for a minute, the expression on her face blank before a hint of a smile appears as she rolls over to switch the Dreamberry off]
"Ffft...PAHAHAHAHAHA!!"

A much shorter and more boyish looking Hungary looked up irritably from her spot on her bed where she was polishing her weapons.

"You're so annyoing! Why are you --"

"What the heck is this!?" the younger version of Prussia asked holding out the most monsterous pink dress. Hungary seemed to gag at the sight as she bolted over and snatched the dress from the other nation and shoved it back into the depths of the wardrobe. "That's hilarious! So much for being a boy!!"

"I am a boy!" Hungary squealed back, her voice pitching making Prussia double over even harder. This of course only made Hungary even more frustrated and while her usual answer to Prussia mocking her was to smack him hard with her sword, she was seemingly more flustered than usual.

"I'm Hungary~~ Oh look, I'm so girly that I wear dresses~~~" The other nation trilled prancing around her now. She opened her mouth several times to protest but found herself unable to say a word and instead she let out a frustrated growl and whipped open the wardrobe again and stomped over to the dressing screen. "I'll show you who's a girl! Only real men wear dresses!"

Prussia's laughing was coupled with Hungary's swearing and cursing at both the dress and the nation. Finally Hungary emerged several moments later, her face bright red and obviously looking pissed off. Prussia stopped when she emerged and Hungary stared back, obviously not pleased.

Pf....pffft.....PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You look even pansier than that pansy Austria!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!! "

"AUGHHHHHHHHHH!"

The last thing Prussia saw was a very angry Hungary coming at him with a very sharp sword.

Dream ✿ 004 ✿ Anniversary [06/08/09]

Hungary had never expected a proper wedding ceremony at least not with the way that the whole engagement had happened anyway. Instead of someone getting down on one knee and confessing their undying love for you with a ring, Hungary and Austria's engagement had happened with signing of papers and a shaking of hands. Not exactly the most romantic way to get married. And yet, Hungary still found herself completely shocked to find herself standing in the most beautiful wedding gown she'd ever seen while many servants swirled around her, getting her ready for her big day.

It had all started out a few weeks after the whole signing of papers had happened. Hungary was bustling through the house cleaning whatever she could get her hands on, still not used to living under the same roof as Austria's soon to be wife when Austria interrupted her with a clearing of his throat. "Miss Hungary, if you would accompany me to the ballroom." It turned out that without her knowing, Austria had planned a whole wedding ceremony for the two of them. The thought of it still made Hungary tear up a bit, after all, he hadn’t needed to. He had taken it upon himself to teach her how to waltz properly, had let her go shopping for a wedding gown, and he'd asked her opinion on what sort of wedding cake she would want. All of this, with the exception of the wedding dress, did Hungary say that she thought Austria would have better judgement than she would. Yes, she had dreamt about her own wedding day, but Hungary honestly had full confidence in what Austria may choose. Besides, she didn't think that she would make the best choices when it came to flower arrangements or music choice. Yes; it was best to leave all that up to Austria.

"Miss Elizaveta, it's time." Hungary blinked out of her thoughts and nodded as a servant passed her a large bouquet of tulips, erysimum and forget-me-nots before rushing her off to a large set of double doors where Hungary could hear a piano playing softly over the low hum of all the wedding guests. Hungary took a few deep breaths, her heart suddenly beating unusually loud as somebody lowered the veil over her face and the doors were opened, a hush falling over the crowd and the piano music growing louder. At that point, all that was running through Hungary's mind was concentrating on not to trip on the dress' extremely long train, not at the huge, beautiful cathedral that the wedding ceremony was taking place in, not all the nations that had showed up to celebrate. She just wanted to make it up to where Austria was standing without falling flat on her face. It seemed thought that Hungary had thought too soon her feet tangled slightly, still not used to walking in high heels and she pitched forward. A collective gasp rippled through the crowd but Hungary never hit the ground, because Austria had managed to grab her before she did. She smiled at him through the veil, thankful that at least it managed to cover her blush as he smiled back at her and helping her to her feet.

Suddenly worrying about tripping over her train had seemed like a stupid idea when she was standing right next to Austria. Hungary had to admit that while she had always liked the nation, she had never imagined that she would end up marrying him, or that he would even consider returning her feelings. The feeling was surreal and it seemed like an automatic response when they said their, "I do's" and it was only when the veil was lifted from her face that she snapped out of her trance. Austria was smiling at her softly in that way that made her heart beat faster and Hungary could already feel the blush rising again. "You may now kiss the bride," the priest announced, even though it sounded muffled. All she could see was Austria leaning down towards her and Hungary moved to meet him, wrapping her arms around his neck as their wedding guests stood, cheering and clapping.

Later when the party had been moved to Austria's large garden, the night had settled in and the garden had been decorated with lights and candles on each of the tables. The music stopped to only briefly announce that it was time for the couple’s first dance together and Hungary led a reluctant Austria to the make-shift dance floor. A soft violin and piano duet started up as Hungary laid her head on his chest, swaying to the music. "Roderich..." Hungary started as he looked down at her.

"Yes, Miss Hungary?"

"Thank you for doing all this." She looked up and smiled at him, "You really didn't have to you know;I know how much trouble it was for you to put everything together and then have to teach me how to waltz." Her husband shook his head and smiled back at her.

"It is fine, Miss Hungary. It didn't trouble me at all; after all, it was for you." Hungary blushed and was about to say more when the slow tempo increased to the familiar three-four beat that was associated with the waltz. Austria smiled gently at her before changing his hold on her into the waltz hold. "Shall we?" Hungary's cheeks were still flushed, but she quickly followed suit, gently placing her hand on his shoulder and nodding. He began to lead her once he had caught the tempo and Hungary followed along, trying her best to remember what he had taught her in their lessons. After a few concentrated moments without stepping on Austria's feet, Hungary looked up and beamed at her husband, her gaze full of the utmost love for him. Just looking at the smile made him smile back at her.

[Hungary wakes up and smiles at the dream before grinning into the Dreamberry]

Happy Anniversary, Roderich!

Dream ✿ 003 ✿ Payment for Austria 3/3

Hungary was curled up in a seat, her knees brought up to her chest so that her dress just skimmed the tops of her shoes as she listened to Austria play. She had grown to love these moments with her husband even if half the time he had no idea what piece he was playing. But she had been learning slowly and in secret. Doing that was difficult of course having no background in music whatsoever, but Hungary was a determined person.

But learning this little bit of music by herself wasn't enough and with this thought, her eyebrow furrowed and her pleasent face turned into one of unhappiness.

"Miss Hungary?" The flowing melody stopped and Austria looked over at her. "Is something the matter?" Hungary didn't answer for a minute as if lost in thought before frowning and nodding stomping over to the piano bench and sitting herself right beside him.

"Roderich," her green eyes held a completely serious look on her face as she spoke, "I want to learn to play the piano." His own violet eyes widened at the request but they recovered even though Hungary didn't catch it as she was already staring intently at the piano. "It can't be that hard. I mean, you play so beautifully Roderich, but that's you and you're amazing at these sorts of things."

"...Miss Hungary -," she looked up her face slightly flushed this time with embarrassment.

"I-I just want to be able to share things that you love with you." Her eyes flitted down to her fingers again as she compared them to Austria's own hands. Despite having calluses on his fingertips from the violin, his hands were still slim and smooth while hers were rough. They would always be that way - it made sense when her country was so used to farm work and holding weapons all the time. Even after so long she still felt like a stranger in his fine world. "I'm always just sitting here, hearing you play and - ,"

"I understand, Miss Hungary," Austria spoke with a smile. "If that's what you want, I'd be more than happy to teach you." Quietly he guided her hands to the piano and placed them there making her blush. "You don't have to learn the piano to make me happy. I enjoy playing for you. You listening is enough for me, because Miss Hungary, every song I play, I play for you."

And as Austria guided her fingers carefully along the keys, Hungary was smiling to herself the whole time.

[wakes up with the same smile on her face]

Oh Roderich...But I really would like to learn the piano.
Dream ✿ 002 ✿ Payment for Austria 2/3

"Miss Hungary..." she turned and looked up to see Austria looking rather well...odd.

"Y-yes, Roderich?" Hungary asked with a smile, trying her hardest to act nonchalant about the current situation although her stutter gave her away.

"I seem to have a problem with my wardrobe. You see when I went to dress myself this morning, my wardrobe was filed with...dresses."

"Y-you d-don't say," she replied having to turn her head to look away before she broke out into squeals. "We should bring it up with the servants then....but I-I don't see a problem with it."

"Miss Hungary, I am wearing a dress." He certainly made it hard to keep a straight face.

"I-It looks lovely on you though." Austria sighed and crossed his arms trying to pull the particular dress he was wearing further down unconvinced. It was only when he looked up did he notice Hungary snapping away with her small camera that he knew she kept on her at all time. He had always thought that perhaps it was just a hobby but sometimes...

"What are you doing, Miss Hungary?"

"A-ahh ---!!" Hurridly she tucked the camera away her face a bright red. "I-I just remembered I have something to do. I'll look for your other clothes later, Roderich!" And with that she bolted out of the room leaving Austria looking completely confused.

[obvious signs of distress and cursing is heard in the background although Hungary can't deny that she would have loved to see Roderich in a dress]

Szar, szar, szar! Turn off!! O-Ohhhh, I hate you!! My love is pure! Pureeeeeee!!!

Dream ✿ 001 ✿ Payment for Austria 1/3

Hungary peeked into Austria's study and looked around before entering the room, its walls lined with shelves of books and beautiful artwork, with its tall windows that let in sparkling sunlight. She was dressed in a light green dress, with a bandana tying her long hair back away from her face. Since marrying Austria she hadn't worn anything but dresses except for the odd occasion when she went hunting when she was back in her own country.

She had actually only come into Austria's study to come and retrieve the coffee set that she had forgotten when she was having coffee with Austria. It was a job for the servants in the household, and Austria often expressed that that was what they were there for, but after being employeed as a maid for short time in his house, it was a bit of a habit for her.

Hungary smiled in relief when she say the heavy tray set on the fine oak table and bent to pick it up when she heard a gentle snore from the piano. She froze and turned around unsure about what to do. She wasn't as musicaly gifted as her husband was, but she knew more than enough to know that pianos didn't snore. Hungary stayed completely still for another minute as another soft snore emitted from the piano before deciding moving towards there as quietly as she could in her boots to investiage.

But what if pianos did snore?! Austria wouldn't be happy about that. They'd probably have to get a new one. Unless of course he had gotten a piano that could snore on purpose...These were basically the thoughts that ran through Hungary's mind until she came around to where the piano bench was only to find none other than her dear Austria asleep at the piano bench.

She stared at him in wonder for a moment - his hair was slightly rumpled, but his clothes were pristine as usual. Hungary wondered how he could have fallen asleep like hunched over the piano that but he looked so peaceful and right. After a while she smiled and crept away silently before returning with a blanket and placing it over his shoulders. Kissing him on the head, Hungary giggled to herself as she went to retrieve the tray and leave the room, looking back at him before smiling to herself again and leaving him to his rest.

[Wakes up with her face flushed, smiling to herself nonetheless. It's only when she notices that the Dreamberry had broadcasted her dream that she freaks out.]

W-WHAATTTT?! O-oohhhh szar!! Turn off!!
[Elizaveta's voice is shakey although she's trying to hide her obvious flustered and anxious feelings. Plus she has no idea how to use the Dreamberry so she's worried that nobody will answer her call]

U-uhm...I'm sorry b-but I seem to be a bit lost. Well not lost but...Okay yes, I suppose I'm lost!! But Roderich is much more prone to this than I am and this isn't Hungary or any other neighboring country I've ever been to....

So, uhm, if anyone can hear me...or help me it would be appreciated!

...T-thank you!!

[Character Name] Hungary (Elizaveta Héderváry)
[Canon] Axis Power Hetalia
[Point Taken from Canon] Pre World War I so sometime in 1914.

[Age] 20something? XD Actually like 1000 something years old.
[Gender] Female
[Sexual Orientation] Hetero

[Eye Color] Green
[Hair Color] Brown
[Height] Shorter than Austria lol :|
[Other] Nothing really. Except that she's a country.
[Clothing] Hungary can be seen in something similar to this or a dress from her home land and she always has a flower in her hair.

This is also the what she looks like at the time she's take from.

[Background] While it has been disputed before, the origin of the name originated from when the Magyar tribes were a part of an alliance called On-Ogour which meant, “The Ten Arrows”. Hungary was settled in 896 and is one of the oldest countries in Europe, ruled by a Magyar chieftain by the name of Arpad whose great grandson, Stephan I of Hungary, would rule the throne.

Even after settling and properly securing the Carpathian Basin from the Bulgarians and the Moravians, there was still a large threat from Christian nations in the west. The Hungarians quickly reacted against this threat, and engaged in war with those threats as far as the Iberian Peninsula with their deadly tactic of relying on light horsemen who had mastered the reflex bow. While this had a devastating affect, Hungary eventually suffered a large defeat against the force of united Germany and Bohermian force. Geza, the fejedelem (ruling prince), took this information in and decided that it would be wise to make Hungary into a Christian empire so as to rebuild their political and social model. Stephan of Hungary I ascended to the throne in December 1000AD. He successfully had solidified his power and was beginning to eliminate all rivals who wanted to return to their old alliance with the Eastern Christian Empire. Once that had been completed, he began to use his power to sweep through the country with reforms, also instilling forced Christianization.

Hungary became a strong country through Stephan’s rule and decisions while he was on the throne. He modeled a Frankish administrative model that would divide the land into countries under different royal officials who reported back to him. It was very much like a lord who represented Stephan’s authority. This helped contribute to Hungary’s success in fending off attacks from both Germany and any kings from the East. They did however integrate some of the Germans after the Battle of Mohi and ended up conquering Croatia in 1091. It was only under the rule of Bela IV of Hungary did the country see another major blow from the Mongols in the battle of Mohi in 1241. More than half of Hungary’s population was annihilated by the Mongols, which led to Hungary extending the invitation to the Germans who were currently living in Transylvania. Around this same time, some 200,000 Cumans were driven from their homes in the Carpathian Mountains and appealed to Bela for protection who agreed to do so. Their many stone castles were the only thing that would be able to withhold the attack against the Mongols, and as a result, Bela ordered that they be constructed in all the towns to provide defense against another possible Mongol invasion. This prediction proved to be true when they returned in 1286 and failed to successfully overtake them. Even though these stone castles would prove to be useful again during the Ottoman Empire, Hungary’s royal power was once again weakened.

The Arpad’s blood line only survived until 1301 until being passed down to the first Angevin king, Charles I of Hungary. He successfully restored the royal power and defeated the oligarch rivals and managed to install new customs as well as monetary policies. One of his primary sources of wealth and power came from the gold mines that were scattered in east and northern Hungary. At one point, the amount of gold being produced was five times as much as any other European state. During his reign, Charles also created an alliance with Casimir III, the king of Poland. Louis I the Great became the second king after and extended Hungary’s territory over the Adriatic Sea, also managing to occupy the territory of Naples several times. The most famous hero of Hungarian literature also came into being at this time: Nicolas Toldi. Hungary came out on top during two wars against Venice which caused Dalmatia and Ragusa to become annexed in addition to some territories in the Adriatic Sea. Hungary however also became confronted with other challenges.

The Ottoman Turks began to confront the country more and more and in 1366 and 1377, Louis led Hungary to success in the Battle at Nicapoli of 1366. In addition to this, Louis also became king of Poland after Casimir III died. When he died without a male successor, the country was only stabilized after years of anarchy when a price from the Luxembourg line came to power after marrying Loui’s daughter, Queen Mary. In 1404, Sigismund introduced a Placetum Regium which decreed that Papal bulls and messages could not be pronounced with the consent of the king. He then went on to create the Council of Constance which abolished the Papal Schism of the Catholic church which was easily solved with the election of a pope. In 1466, parliament elected Janos Hunyadi as governor before electing him regent. Janos proved to be quite the force against the Ottoman Turks when he defeated them in the Siege of Belgrade 1456.

Matthias Corvinus was the last strong king of the Renaissance and he was the only son of John Hunyadi. He was a successful military leader, a phenomenal linguist, a learned astrologer and patron of the arts and learning. He was determined to build a stronger country by expanding both southward and northwest and like his father wanted to make Hungary powerful enough to push back the Ottomans which seemed necessary in conquering large parts of the Holy Roman Empire. Under the leadership of Pal Kinizsi in 1479, Hungary destroyed the Ottoman and Wallachan troops at the Battle of Breadfield. His mercenary standing army soon became to be called the Black Army of Hungary and was an unusually big army for its age managing to capture parts of Austria, Vienna and parts of Bohemia. This however was the only positive thing Hungary would see for a while. Ulaszlo II was notoriously known for his weakness: accepting every word on paper that was put before him. This put Hungary into huge financial difficulties partly to the enlargement of feudal lands at Ulaszlo’s expense.

In another 150 years, the Ottoman Empire would conquer parts of Hungary continuing to expand until 1556. Their big decisive victory was at the Battle of Mohacs in 1526 and the next decades, the Hungarian nobility elected two kings at the same time: Szapolyai Janos and Ferdinand Habsburg. Their feud only further weakened Hungary’s state and by 1541, Hungary was divided into three parts. Royal Hungary, which was the north-western part of Hungary, was annexed by Habsburgs who ruled the throne as King of Hungary. The eastern part which is present day Partium and Transylvania became independent as the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom under Ottoman rule. Most of the central area, which is present day Hungary, was known as the Ottoman Hungary and including the capital Buda. This area was largely a warfare area and became permanently damaged by it. There was a moment where the Hungarian’s spirits lifted during the victory over the Ottomans at the Siege of Eger but the country reminded feuding until the end of 17th century. Over the next few years, Hungary would be seen constantly under siege or in a war of some sort. Hungary entered the Thirty Year’s War; Habsburg joining the catholic side while Transylvania joined the Protestant side. In 1686, another European campaign began to enter Hungary again. The Holy League’s army was twice as large however, and held over 74,000 men including German, Croat, Dutch, Hungarian, English, Spanish, Czech, Italian and French. Buda was taken back successfully and soon all of Hungarian’s former land was restored with the exception of the areas near Timisoara. It was only in 1718 that Hungary was entirely removed from the Ottoman rule.
Between 1604 and 1711 there was a series of anti-Austrian and anti-Catholic uprisings which all took place, except for the last one, in Royal Hungary. Most uprisings were organized in Transylvania and one was even led by II Rakoczi Ferenc after the dethronement of Habsburgs in 1707. At the Battle of Trencsen, the Hungarian Kuruc army lost many battles, but there were still many successful actions. Adam Balogh managed to capture the Austrian Emperor with Kuruc troops. Rakoczi was in Poland when the Austrians defeated the uprising in 1711, before fleeing to France and then Turkey. To make further resistance impossible, the Austrians blew up castles along the border between what used to be occupied by the Ottomans and Royal Hungary. A Reform period began in the 1820’s but progress slow despite having new laws enacted by the Parliament of Hungary. Part of this reason was because the nobles who had the majority of seats in parliament were taking advantage of their privileges such as exemption from taxes. Count Istaven Szechenyi recognized the need for modernization however and got the message through to the rest. In 1825, Hungarian parliament reconvened to handle Hungary’s financial needs. Hungary saw major modernization at that point but was still unable to make important liberal reforms because Habsburgs had been obstructing them.

Demonstrations held in Pest and Buda allowed Hungarian reformists to push a list of 12 demands on March 15, 1848. Austria was dealing with revolution in Vienna at the same time and had to demand Hungarian demands. Under the governor Lajos Kossuth and first Prime minster Lajos Batthyany, Hasburg was dethroned and government as able to change to create the first Republic of Hungary. Emperor Franz Joseph came to power after replacing his uncle Ferdinand I after the Austrian revolution was repressed. Franz and his advisors managed to manipulate the Croatian, Serbian and Romanian peasantry along with priests and officials who were loyal to Habsburgs and made the rebel against the Hungarian government. Hungarians however were supported by many Slovak, German, Rusyn, Jews, Polish and Austrian and Italian volunteers. At first, Hungarian forces were able to defeat Austrian armies but to counter the success of Hungary, Franz Joseph asked help from Czar Nicholas I whose armies invaded Hungary. The power of both the Austrian and Russian Empire’s armies was too great for Hungary and they surrendered in August of 1849. Julius Freiherr von Haynau became governor for Hungary for a few months before ordering the execution of 13 leaders from the Hungarian army as well as Prime Minister Batthyany.

Reforms were inevitable to secure the Habsburg Empire due to many external and internal problems. The Battle of Koniggratz in 1866 forced the Emperor to seriously consider these internal reforms and as a result he made a deal with Hungary called the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867. While the two realms would be governed by two separate parliaments, the Monarchy would be common as would external and military policies. Economy too was brought into this and the first Prime minister of Hungary became Count Gyula Andrassy. Hungary’s old Constitution was restored and Franz Joseph was crowned as King of Hungary. After this union, Hungary’s economy became more stable even though remaining agriculture dominant. Austria-Hungary would soon see war again in World War I.

[Personality] Despite her girlish looks, Elizaveta has the heart of a warrior and is a strong woman which makes sense taking into consideration that everything her country has gone through. While she in introverted, Hungary is an extremely hard worker trying her best to do everything to make those that she loves happy. It would make sense then to ask why she married Austria of all people. Their two personalities seem different in every single way. While he is strict and serious most of the time; Hungary seems to breathe a sense of life and joy into everything she does. She would much rather spend time outside riding around outside on horses than sit around acting like a lady all day making her a bit of a tomboy. During her childhood, she spent her days out in the wood beating people up for example with Prussia even though their relationship now is little to be desired. It wasn't even until she hit puberty that she realized that she was girl -- that whole time as a child, Hungary thought she was a boy. Despite all this, Hungary loves Austria and seems willing to change for him.

Underneath her maiden’s heart though, Hungary is a fierce warrior who knows how to hold her own <s>even if holding her own means bashing the heck out of something with a frying pan</s>. Her country had gone through its share of wars and Hungary has grown quite adapt at protecting it. This would lead to her determination to protect those that she loves. She is very capable of taking care of things and really does wear the pants in her relationship with Austria. Her temper has been known to lash out, but it does take some time to coax out. It’s more likely to come out if something is happening to her dear Austria.

She also has a bit of soft spot for cute boys which is thanks to the fact that Hungary is a mecca for gay videos. While I did mention she is protective of her husband, she isn’t above watching Austria get possibly seduced before jumping in to save the day.

[Specialties/Abilities] Beating people up with her frying pan, being a creeper and sucking at house hold chores.

Kay but seriously. Hungary from what I can take probably tries her very hardest to be the best wife for Austria that she can, but for some reason, the whole housewife image doesn’t suit her. She is a tomboy at heart and sadly isn’t very good at household chores despite her previous occupation of a maid in Austria’s house. Folding clothes? Can’t do it. Cooking? Well a bit, but the majority turns into a big mess. On the other hand though, she is fully capable of fighting with weapons like swords and a bow and arrow. Through all her battles Hungary has also learned to ride a horse as well as anyone. It can be assumed also that since Hungary is a country she can speak Coration, Hungarian, a bit of German, Slovene and can probably understand any other language spoken thanks to the Austria-Hungary alliance. And ohyea, she’s actually a country so that makes her slightly more durable than most human beings.

[Affection] Hungary is basically in love with her husband Austria and won't allow any really intimate forms of affection towards her. I don't suggest trying, she may hit you with her frying pan if you're really forward, but hugs should be alright. She's more than likely to be all over you in hugs if you're cute though~
[Fighting] Despite looking quite girly, Hungary can hold her own in fighitng. She may not look it but she is a bit of a tomboy and can ride on horseback, shoot with a bow and arrow and fight with a sword as well as any other man could. Hungary is a bit more durable than most because she is a country but ping me before doing anything drastic to her =]

[Other Facts] Hungary is married to Austria and basically wears the pants in the relationship =] Oh right, she also loves cute boys, hot springs and has her frying pan with her just about 24/7.
